BENNY™ Card New Technology PDF Print

New Technology Greatly Reduces Need to Submit Paper Receipts

What does this new technology mean to me?

  • Now you can shop for prescriptions, vision care items and other over-the-counter products at pharmacies and grocery stores with limited or no need to submit receipts if the merchant has adopted IIAS (Inventory Information Approval System) technology.

  • The IIAS technology allows only FSA-eligible items to be paid for with the card.

  • Retail pharmacies have until July 1, 2009 to adopt the IIAS technology; otherwise, the card will no longer work at these locations.

  • Debit card substantiation rules still apply for services and items purchased from medical, vision or dental providers.

Where can I find a list of merchants participating in this new technology?

Click here for the list of merchants. You may also call Group Dynamic, Inc. at 800-626-3539.

How does the card work at participating merchants?

1. Swipe your Benny card for your purchase.

2. The FSA-eligible items will be paid for via your Benny card provided that your card is active and there are funds available in your account. You will not need to submit a receipt for those purchases.

3. If some of the items you are purchasing are not FSA-eligible, the clerk will ask for another form of payment for those items.

4. Your Benny card receipt will indicate your FSA-eligible items for your records.
