If you are currently contributing to a Health Savings Account, you may also participate in a Limited Purpose Medical FSA (provided that your employer offers this option). This type of FSA differs from a general purpose Medical FSA only by the type of expenses eligible for reimbursement. A Limited Purpose Medical FSA plan allows HSA participants to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket dental, vision and preventive care expenses. Employee contributions to the account are deducted pre-tax, the "use it or lose it" rule applies, and participants may access their entire annual election at any time during the plan year.
